Beautiful Saturday Morning August 26, 2006

I am up earlier than I wanted to be today, but as per usual, my lovely neighbors started sanding their house around 8:30 am. They bought this house beside us last year, and are currently spending every waking minute restoring it…it is a 100 year old rectory, which requires much much work. I can’t wait until the sanding is done….I may actually get to sleep in one day.
I had a bad sleep. I went for a massage yesterday, and I suspect that they are washing their sheets in a new laundry detergent, as I immediately had an allergic reaction. My entire body was itchy. No rash or anything, but just extremely itchy. When I got home, I rubbed aloe vera gel all over, but it didn’t help. I woke in the middle of the night, feeling like I had bugs crawling all over my body. So, I dragged my tired butt into the shower, and it seemed to help. I will call over today to find out what they are using, and to inform them that I seem to be allergic to it.
The Golf Pro and I spent a nice evening together. We went to our favorite bookstore, at a local mall here. It’s such a treasure. The owner finds overstocked warehouses, and gets the books for dirt cheap. We get brand new books (or close to brand new) for a tiny fraction of the price. They have a huge selection of golf books, which just tickles the Golf Pro’s fancy, as he is constantly adding to his “library”. And of course, any one who knows me knows that I have always been a book worm. So, I got 5 new books:
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver (this one was recommended by the store owner, and he actually ended up giving it to me for free as a deal, since I bought so many books)

The White Bone by Barbara Gowdy
Funny Boy by Shyam Selvadurai
Diet for a Gentle World by Les Inglis
Yoga & Meditation, by Life Basics (published by Escalator Press) – no website available
I have a Level 1 yoga class this morning, followed by a monthy 1-hour yoga talk workshop. Should be fun!
